Help Carry Black History Forward.
The Memory Justice Project is always looking to connect with scholars, researchers, and historians whose work brings to light overlooked or under-told chapters in Black history. If you’re carrying a story rooted in deep research—and you believe it deserves to be shared more widely—we’d be honored to learn more.
This is not a call for content submissions. It is an invitation to be in conversation with a growing platform that brings historical research to life through narrative, video, and public education.
What We’re Looking For
We are especially interested in stories that:
- Unearth acts of racial violence, resistance, or systemic injustice
- Carry legal, moral, or historical weight
- Are rooted in verifiable sources (archival, oral, or documentary)
- Have not received widespread public attention
- Support educational storytelling that helps illuminate deeper truths about Black history and injustice
- Offer sufficient depth, complexity, and narrative arc to sustain a full episode of storytelling; submissions should go beyond isolated events or single-source discoveries
Our Approach
The Memory Justice Project is a research and storytelling initiative committed to honoring those who lived and died in injustice—the ones history tried to bury and the law abandoned. We are committed to careful, responsible storytelling. We do not accept proposals that seek to exploit trauma, simplify complex histories, or prioritize reach over truth. Our platform exists to honor memory, not manufacture content.
How It Works
We review a limited number of story proposals each quarter. If your submission aligns with our editorial direction, we may:
- Reach out to learn more about your research
- Discuss possible next steps and offer compensation if we ask you to develop anything new
- Credit you clearly in all final story and source materials
We regularly draw from publicly available research and published academic work, with clear attribution. However, if you are submitting original and unpublished research please note that we do not adapt or incorporate such work without your permission and a formal agreement in place. Final editorial and production decisions remain with our team.

Send an email to memoryjustice@julianjohnsonlaw.com with the subject line Story Proposal – [Working Title or Topic]. Please include:
- A brief summary of the story (no more than 500 words)
- A description of your research process and sources
- Any relevant materials or links
- A short note on why you believe this story is a strong fit for the Memory Justice Project’s approach to educational storytelling
If the story is a fit, someone from our team will follow up within 4–6 weeks.
